80lb Black Wire Sliding Snell Rig – Twin 8/0 Circle Hooks

Why These Rigs Were Chosen

Queensland fishing can mean covering a wide range of conditions—from long surf casts and deep gutters to reef edges, headlands and offshore bait fishing.

These rigs were chosen because they:

  • Handle heavier sinkers and stronger currents
  • Present baits cleanly in surf, reef and offshore environments
  • Stand up to abrasion from reef, teeth and structure
  • Give fishos the flexibility to target multiple species in one session

Rather than focusing on a single style of fishing, this pack provides a practical selection of rigs suited to how Queensland fishos actually fish.

Typical Queensland Species These Rigs Target

These rigs are commonly used by Queensland fishos chasing:

  • Tailor
  • Mulloway (Jewfish)
  • Snapper
  • Trevally
  • Mackerel
  • Reef species including coral trout, emperor, cod and sweetlip
  • Sharks and other large toothy fish
  • Big bait predators around headlands and reefs

While no rig is limited to one species, the selection in this pack closely matches the fish and conditions commonly encountered along the Queensland coast.

Rig Care & Safety Tips

  • Rinse rigs with fresh water after use
  • Allow rigs to dry fully before storage to extend hook and swivel life
  • Check leaders, wire, hooks and knots after landing toothy or reef fish
  • Store wire and heavy-duty rigs separately to avoid tangling lighter rigs
  • Use suitable gloves when handling wire traces and large hooks

Queensland Pro Tip

Queensland conditions can change quickly with the tide, swell and current. Carrying a mixture of surf, reef and heavy bait rigs allows you to adapt on the spot—whether you move from a beach gutter to a headland or from inshore water to a reef edge.

Why These Rigs Were Chosen

New South Wales fishing can mean moving between estuaries, coastal lakes, surf beaches, rocky headlands and inshore water.

These rigs were chosen because they:

  • Cover light estuary fishing, surf casting and larger bait fishing
  • Provide running sinker, Fish Finder, paternoster, pulley and sliding snell options
  • Suit natural baits ranging from worms and prawns to pilchards, squid and larger fish baits
  • Include wire rigs for Gummies, School Sharks, Tailor and other toothy species
  • Give fishos practical options when the target species or conditions change during a session

Rather than focusing on one fishing environment, this pack provides a balanced selection suited to the variety of fishing encountered along the New South Wales coast.

Typical New South Wales Species These Rigs Target

These rigs are commonly used by New South Wales fishos chasing:

  • Australian Salmon
  • Bream
  • Whiting
  • Flathead
  • Tailor
  • Mulloway (Jewfish)
  • Snapper
  • Trevally
  • Gummy Sharks
  • School Sharks
  • Other popular surf and estuary species

While no rig is limited to one species, the selection in this pack closely matches the fish and conditions commonly encountered across New South Wales beaches, estuaries and coastal waters.

Rig Care & Safety Tips

  • Rinse rigs with fresh water after use
  • Allow rigs to dry fully before storage to extend hook and swivel life
  • Check leaders, wire, hooks and knots after landing toothy fish or fishing around rocks
  • Store wire and heavy-duty rigs separately to avoid tangling lighter rigs
  • Use suitable gloves when handling wire traces and larger hooks

New South Wales Pro Tip

New South Wales conditions can change significantly between protected estuaries and open surf beaches. Carrying light estuary rigs alongside surf, big-fish and wire options allows you to change setups without relying on one rig to cover every situation.

Why These Rigs Were Chosen

Victoria’s fishing is heavily influenced by tides, swell, current and water temperature. This pack focuses on rigs that:

  • Perform reliably in southern surf and wash conditions
  • Handle bay and inshore snapper fishing
  • Provide castable options for gummy and school sharks
  • Transition easily between beach, pier, rock and boat fishing
  • Cover everything from whiting and bream through to sharks and larger bottom species

These are practical rigs that Victorian customers regularly order and rely on.

Typical Victorian Target Species

The rigs in this pack are commonly used to target:

  • Gummy sharks
  • School sharks
  • Snapper, including pinkies
  • Australian salmon
  • Tailor
  • King George whiting
  • Mulloway
  • Bream
  • Flathead
  • Trevally
  • Kingfish

Species availability varies by season and location, but this pack provides a versatile selection that remains useful throughout the year.

Victoria Pro Tip

Victorian conditions can change quickly. Keep a mixture of lighter bay and estuary rigs and heavier surf or bottom rigs ready—being able to change rigs quickly can often matter more than changing locations.

Rig Care & Safety Tips

  • Rinse rigs with fresh water after saltwater use
  • Allow rigs to dry completely before storage
  • Check wire, leaders, knots, swivels and hooks after gummy or shark captures
  • Store rigs dry and separated to reduce tangles and corrosion
  • Match your sinker weight to the surf, depth and current without exceeding your rod’s rating
  • Replace any leader or wire showing kinks, abrasion or damage

Well-maintained rigs last longer and fish more reliably.

Western Australia Rig Pack

Surf, Reef & High-Current Pack

This Western Australia Rig Pack is built from our most-sold rigs across WA, selected for the powerful currents, rugged coastline and hard-fighting species Western Australian fishos regularly encounter—from surf beaches and rocky headlands to offshore reefs and deep inshore ground.

Every rig has been chosen from real WA customer orders, providing a practical mixture of surf, reef, big-bait and heavy-duty fishing setups.

What’s Inside the Western Australia Rig Pack — 10 Rigs Total

Tap any rig name below to view the full specifications and setup details.

• 3 × Surf Casting Rigs

Tailor & Surf Fishing Rig – Twin 4/0 Ganged Hooks / Sliding Sinker

Gummy & School Shark Rig – 110lb Black Coated Wire / 6/0 Circle Hook

40lb Everyday Twisted Paternoster Rig – Twin 1/0 Beak Hooks

• 2 × Reef & Bottom-Fishing Rigs

80lb Snapper Flasher Double Paternoster Rig – Twin 10/0 Sport Circle Hooks

Heavy-Duty 80lb Offshore Twisted Paternoster Rig – Twin 8/0 Beak Hooks

• 2 × Heavy-Bait & Toothy Fish Rigs

Additional rig: Tailor & Surf Fishing Rig – Twin 4/0 Ganged Hooks / Sliding Sinker

80lb Black Wire Sliding Snell Rig – Twin 8/0 Circle Hooks

• 2 × General-Purpose WA Rigs

All Species Fishing Rig – Adjustable Sliding Stinger Hook

60lb Sliding Snelled Double Hook Rig – Twin 5/0 Octopus Circle Hooks

• 1 × Extra-Heavy Abrasion-Resistant Rig

200lb Stainless Steel Shark Rig – 2 m Wire Trace with Bite Zone / 14/0 Circle Hook

Why These Rigs Were Chosen

Western Australian conditions often demand stronger components, increased abrasion resistance and rigs capable of carrying the heavier sinkers required to hold bottom in fast water.

These rigs were chosen because they:

  • Cope with strong swell, surge and tidal run
  • Handle larger, harder-pulling species
  • Stand up to abrasion from reef, rocks and toothy fish
  • Perform effectively over reef, sand and mixed ground
  • Suit both land-based and boat fishing

This combination covers a broad range of WA fishing conditions without unnecessarily complicating your setup.

Important WA Fishing Rules

Western Australian fishing rules vary by bioregion, species, season and fishing method.

When targeting demersal scalefish in the West Coast Bioregion, fishos may use a maximum of one bait or lure on each line. Any double-hook paternoster rig must therefore be converted to a genuine single-hook setup before being used for those species.

The hooks on the included paternoster rigs can be unlooped and removed when a single-hook setup is required.

Purpose-built WA-Compliant Single-Arm Twisted Paternoster Rig Blanks are also available.

A release weight is required when line fishing for demersal species throughout WA. Seasonal closures, area restrictions and species-specific rules may also apply.

Always check the official Western Australian recreational fishing rules before fishing, as regulations can change.

Typical WA Target Species

The rigs in this pack are commonly used to target:

  • Pink snapper
  • WA dhufish
  • Baldchin groper
  • Mulloway
  • Samson fish
  • Tailor
  • Australian salmon
  • Spanish mackerel
  • Sharks and rays, where permitted
  • Other large coastal and reef species

Species availability and fishing rules vary by region and season, so always confirm the regulations applying to your location and target species.

Rig Care & Safety Tips

  • Rinse rigs thoroughly with fresh water after use
  • Allow rigs to dry completely before storage
  • Check mono leaders, wire, swivels, crimps and hook points for damage
  • Pay particular attention to abrasion after fishing reef or landing toothy fish
  • Store heavy wire rigs separately to prevent tangles and damage to lighter rigs
  • Replace any leader or wire showing kinks, abrasion or corrosion
  • Match your sinker weight to the current without exceeding your rod’s rating

Western Australia Pro Tip

In strong WA current, don’t automatically use the heaviest sinker available. Start lighter and increase the weight only when needed. A rig that moves slightly with the current can sometimes attract more bites than one pinned firmly to the bottom.

• 1 × Heavy-Duty Big-Bait Rig

80lb Black Wire Sliding Snell Rig – Twin 8/0 Circle Hooks

Why These Rigs Were Chosen

South Australian fishing demands versatility. Conditions can vary considerably between exposed surf beaches, sheltered gulf waters, jetties and inshore structure.

These rigs were chosen because they:

  • Cover long casting and general surf fishing
  • Provide running-sinker and sliding-sneller options for gulf and inshore water
  • Include paternoster rigs for beaches, jetties, piers and boats
  • Offer heavier options for larger baits and hard-pulling species
  • Allow fishos to adapt as the tide, wind and fishing location change

This combination provides practical coverage without requiring numerous specialised setups.

Typical South Australian Target Species

The rigs in this pack are commonly used to target:

  • Australian salmon
  • King George whiting
  • Flathead
  • Mulloway
  • Gummy sharks
  • Tailor
  • Kingfish
  • Trevally
  • Snapper, where current regulations permit
  • Rays and other inshore species

Species availability and fishing rules vary by region and season, so always confirm the regulations applying to your location and target species.

Important South Australian Fishing Regulations

At the time of this update, snapper fishing is closed in the West Coast, Spencer Gulf, Gulf St Vincent and Kangaroo Island fishing zones until 30 June 2027.

Targeting, taking, possessing or catch-and-release fishing for snapper is prohibited within these closed zones.

Snapper may only be taken in the South-East Fishing Zone, subject to the applicable size, bag and boat limits and mandatory catch reporting requirements.

The Snapper & Mulloway and Kingfish & Snapper rigs included in this pack are versatile crossover rigs. When snapper fishing is closed, they can still be used for other permitted species such as mulloway, kingfish, Australian salmon, tailor and other larger inshore fish.

Always check the official PIRSA recreational fishing rules and closures before fishing, as regulations can change.

Rig Care & Safety Tips

  • Rinse rigs thoroughly with fresh water after use
  • Allow rigs to dry completely before storage
  • Check mono leaders, wire, swivels and hook points for damage
  • Inspect leaders carefully after fishing around reef, rocks or other abrasive ground
  • Store heavy wire rigs separately to prevent tangles and damage to lighter rigs
  • Replace any rig showing abrasion, corrosion or weakened components
  • Store rigs away from direct sunlight when not in use

South Australia Pro Tip

South Australian conditions can change quickly. Carrying a mixture of surf, bottom and running-sinker rigs allows you to adapt on the spot—whether you move from an exposed beach to sheltered gulf water or fish through changing tides and wind.

2 × 40lb Everyday Twisted Paternoster Rig – Twin 1/0 Beak Hooks

Why These Rigs Were Chosen

Tasmanian fishing often rewards natural bait movement, adaptable tackle and dependable rigs rather than unnecessarily heavy hardware.

These rigs were chosen to provide:

  • Running-sinker options for estuaries, coastal rivers and sheltered bays
  • Paternoster rigs for surf gutters, jetties and rocky shorelines
  • Sliding snelled rigs for pilchards, strip baits and other larger natural baits
  • A practical balance of lighter tackle and stronger rigs for larger fish

Together, the mix covers a wide range of land-based and inshore fishing situations without overcomplicating your setup.

Typical Tasmanian Target Species

These rigs are commonly used to target:

  • Flathead
  • Australian salmon
  • Trevally
  • Whiting
  • Bream
  • Gummy shark
  • Elephant fish

Species vary by location and season, but this pack provides useful coverage for many of Tasmania’s commonly targeted fish.

Tasmania Pro Tip

In calmer bays and estuaries, fresh bait and natural movement can matter more than heavier tackle. Use only enough sinker weight to maintain contact with the bottom—lighter setups will often move more naturally and help you detect subtle bites.

Rig Care & Safety

  • Rinse rigs with fresh water after every saltwater session
  • Allow rigs to dry completely before storing them
  • Check leaders, knots, swivels and hook points regularly
  • Replace any hook that has been dulled by sand or rock contact
  • Store rigs separately to reduce tangles and prevent damage

Well-maintained rigs last longer and perform more reliably.
